Come meet the new Chairman of the Northland Regional Council and discuss local government reform in Northland.
The new Chairman of the Northland Regional Council, Bill Shepherd, will be attending a series of informal meetings across the Far North and is keen to meet with Northlanders and provide the opportunity to discuss the Draft Proposal for Reorganisation of Local Government in Northland. This is an open invitation and all interested persons are encouraged to attend.
The Local Government Commission announced its preferred option for the reorganisation of local government in Northland on 12 November 2013, being a single unitary authority across Northland, with seven Community Boards. For links to information about this proposal please refer to:
These meetings are to ensure members of the public have as much information as possible, to discuss the merits and disadvantages of the Local Government Commission's preferred model and to hear the public's views and suggested improvements to the proposal.
