Northland Regional Council sponsors the Sustainable Development Business Award as part of the Northland Business Excellence Awards.

It is awarded to the Northland business which best epitomises overall commitment to sustainable development.

Businesses are judged not just on their economic value, but also on the environmental, cultural and social value they add.

Congratulations to the 2012 winner!

The 2012 Northland Regional Council Sustainable Business Award winner was Kia Tupato.

The judges said:

“Kia Tupato is an outstanding example of a company that exhibits sustainability in terms of value-add to the economy and the community. At its core, are the values of a holistic Māori business which delivers on the four well-beings: social, cultural, economic and environmental. Kia Tupato make an unrivalled contribution to the progression of young people in Northland through training in skills that lead to better employment prospects and life management."
