Ohaeawai School second place in climate action film contest
Natalie Child from the NRC climate action team had a cameo feature in Ohaeawai Primary School’s entry in the climate action film festival – From the Whenua to Moana which claimed second place and won the award for the best use of Te Reo Maori!
The four Year 6 students involved with the entry have had a busy few months researching and gathering information for the film.
Natalie says it’s important for school aged children to become interested in climate change and Ohaeawai Primary School is well on track.
“The younger generation is going to inherit the earth so they should be able to influence the state that it is left in, for them and for future generations. They understand this and so they are passionate about finding solutions.”
Natalie loved watching finished film and thought it was an engaging and informative watch and looks forward to speaking to other Te Taitokerau schools about her mahi and how everyone can play a part in climate action.
