New forestry advisor rules

The Forests Act 1949 was amended last year to establish registration for forestry advisers and log traders. Anyone now giving advice specific to a property about such things as afforestation, planting plans, suitability of specific plants species etc will need to be a registered forestry advisor.

This means that NRC’s Land Management Advisors can only provide generic information about planting projects (e.g. we can’t advise on specifics relating to retiring land into forest, assessment of costs for planting etc). We can provide links to information sources for further research landowners can undertake themselves.
