Rating policies

This document outlines the rating policies ofthe Northland Regional Council (NRC). Rating policies outline the way that councils achieve fair and equitable rates collection to supportthe overall wellbeing ofthe community.

The remission ofrates involves reducing the amount owing or waiving collection ofrates altogether, where it’s considered appropriate to do so. Postponement allows ratepayers to postpone payment of all or a portion of their rates, essentially borrowing the equivalent amount from Council each year.
