Farm Dairy Effluent - storage and disposal

Northland farmers face challenges when selecting a system to achieve effective land application of farm dairy effluent (FDE).

This can be due to a number of factors including heavy soil types, high rainfall – soils can be saturated for up to five months – rolling/steep land contours, many drains and streams and high water tables on low-lying land.

There are now systems which, if designed, installed and operated correctly, can be cost effective, compliant and achieve savings in fertiliser costs. This brochure provides information about one of these systems.
