Our policy for social media
Content
The Northland Regional Council (NRC) official social media accounts are managed by the Digital and Design team, on behalf of our organisation.
If you join us on social media, you can expect updates on the following:
- News and events
- Meetings and job vacancies
- Invitations to have your say
- Occasional live coverage of events
Joining us online
If you follow us on social media we will not automatically follow or like your page back. This is to avoid spam and so that you can easily identify other key users that you might be interested in.
However, being followed by us does not imply endorsement of any kind.
Availability
We will update and monitor our social media accounts during office hours, Monday to Friday.
If you have a query, we will pass your query onto the relevant people in the regional council and do our best to provide an answer within 24 hours. We might ask you to contact us via phone or email to help us get the details we need to look into your query. If you require an immediate response, please phone us on 0800 002 004.
For pollution and environmental incident reporting, call the 24/7 Incident Hotline toll-free on 0800 504 639.
Some social platforms may occasionally be unavailable and we accept no responsibility for lack of service due to the downtime of these platforms.
Replies and messages
We welcome feedback and ideas from all our followers, and endeavour to join the conversation where possible. However, we are not able to reply individually to all the messages we receive via social media.
The Digital and Design team reads all messages received through our official accounts and ensures that any emerging themes or helpful suggestions are passed to the relevant people in the regional council.
We cannot engage on issues of party politics. The usual ways of contacting us for official correspondence are detailed in the contact us section of our website.
Have your say
We value your feedback and encourage you to have a say. Please remember to be polite and respectful with your comments and views.
We reserve the right to remove any posts from the page(s) should the NRC deem the comments, images or links to contain:
- personal attacks of any kind;
- improper comments that target any ethnic, racial, or religious group;
- offensive or inappropriate language;
- spam or include certain links to other sites;
- infringe on copyrights or trademarks;
- incorrect information;
- any other material we deem to be inappropriate;
- trolling - a Facebook term used for a person who purposefully attempts to aggravate, blame or direct abuse to get a response in order to inflame a situation.
Abusive posts or comments on social media will be deleted, and the poster blocked where possible.
If an email received by staff is considered harmful it will be reported and kept indefinitely by NRC.
