Specific targeted rates
We collect funding through specific targeted rates to support organisations and projects that benefit the entire region.
The regional rescue services rate provides funding to organisations whose primary purpose is to save lives that are in immediate or critical danger, or to respond to serious injury.
Through our latest Long Term Plan, the emergency services selected to receive funding with this rate over the three-year period to 2027 are: Northland’s Emergency Services Trust, Surf Life Saving Northern Region, Coastguard Northern Region, Northland & Far North Search and Rescue, Far North Radio and Sea Rescue.
This rate contributes funds towards the development of sporting facilities across Northland that are of regional benefit.
