Kōrero mai! How can Northland Regional Council support you as kaitaiki of the whenua?

Poipoia te kākano kia puāwai

As the people of Te Taitokerau, we all have a responsibility to care for ngā whenua, ngā awa. By working together, we can achieve more to protect the land and water in our rohe.

We know there are many marae, hapū and kaitiaki groups out there leading great mahi to tackle erosion and improve freshwater health, or who are keen to do so, and we want to help.

Would your marae, hapū or kaitiaki group like to kōrero about how we can help? We can meet with you in whānau or marae groups. Contact your local land management advisor for a friendly chat about what works for you:

What can we help you with?

NRC has pūtea available for on-the-ground mahi to tackle erosion and improve freshwater quality. Do you want to:

  • plant an erosion-prone site?
  • fence off steep native bush or eroding pastoral slopes to keep stock out?
  • restore the mauri of your awa?

We can help

If you need pūtea for training and professional services to support you to do the mahi, we can help with that too.
